Also known as the "Cookies Law" is the third point of Article 4 of Decree-Law 13/2012, of 30 March which was published in the "Official Gazette" on Saturday 31 March 2012 and entered into force the following day.

The "Cookies Law", transposing Directive 2009/136/CE of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2009, joins the LSSI (Law 34/2002 of July 11, services of the information and e-commerce company) by modifying the second point of Article 22, which shall be read as follows:

Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002. Service providers can use storage devices and data recovery target terminal equipment, provided that they have given their consent after they have provided them with clear and comprehensive information on their use, in particular on the purposes of the processing of data in accordance with the provisions of Law 15/1999, of December 13, Protection of Personal Data with.

Where technically possible and effective, the consent of the recipient to accept the treatment of data may be facilitated by using the appropriate settings of a browser or other applications, provided that he should proceed with its configuration during installation or upgrade by action expressly for this purpose.

This shall not prevent any technical storage or access for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication by an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary for the provision of a service of the information society specifically requested by the recipient.

If cookies are not there or are disabled, the website does not work properly. Cookies are essential for the smooth operation of digital newspapers on Internet. This is a law warning and information to the user/reader cookies.

 

Important terms in the implementation of the LSSI:

• This law has two purposes: to inform and to request the reader to accept the use of cookies in newspapers, in this case of Opennemas platform.
• The application of this law would have two actors, the reader/user and the medium itself/group/journal/newspaper. 
• That said, Openhost and Opennemas platform TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY over the readers of a newspaper and the impact that this law could lead if not complied. 
• The platform will facilitate mechanisms Opennemas newspapers platform for readers / users to accept the use of cookies. 

 

To set up your newspaper to be adapted to the law:

1. You need to create a text Contents> Static Content that is to be displayed if the user clicks on "More Information" section of the LSSI law. 
2. This content may also be hosted on an external address (url). The important thing is to have a link to a document to show the user. 
3. Activate System>Configuration> select the "Internal" tab.
4. Check the box to "Enable cookies agreement" and enter the URL in the "Cookie agreement page URL" field.
